The Flying Lexus NX launch TV spot was produced with a custom replica of the new car model. A remote-controlled flying one, of course. Also, some scenes were executed with computer graphics, others required a ‘real’ flying car in the streets of Los Angeles, where the commercial was shot. Hereafter followed a live event at the Sapporo Dome, featuring our first project with a flying car in Japan.

→ In the world of TVC production, creating realistic visuals is crucial. Our production team faced the challenge of developing a flying car for the launch commercial of the Lexus NX model, with the goal of making every scene appear genuine.
→ To achieve authenticity, we employed several techniques. The Flying Lexus NX was coated with a specially printed blue-toned foil, carefully matched to the appearance of the original vehicle. Replicating the headlights involved a unique deep drawing method, using actual car parts to create accurate replicas. Additionally, the rims of the flying car were coated with a highly reflective chrome foil, enhancing realism by producing eye-catching reflections. The flying car was designed to weigh just 6.0kg, ensuring buoyancy when filled with helium.
→ The result was impressive, highlighting the importance of creative problem-solving in achieving authenticity. By pushing the boundaries of visual effects, our client was able to create a memorable TVC for the Japanese market.
→ A large event at the Sapporo Dome followed hereafter.
