AUBREY & THE 3 MIGOS TOUR

For Willo Perron and his team – the set designer of the Aubrey and the Three Migos tour – we developed a flying r/c replica of Drake’s yellow LaFerrari. It has been called the most memorable moment of the show, when the car flew during his hit “Yes Indeed” overhead the cheering crowd. The realistic execution of the Ferrari caught media attention. The flying car was featured on CNN and Esquire, amongst other publications. In total, we operated the Flying Ferrari during more than 70 concerts in the U.S., Canada, and Europe.

Executing the realistic replica of the flat-shaped Flying Ferrari posed a significant challenge. To address this, the team decided to scale the car up by 110%, ensuring a convincing appearance while the slight upscale went unnoticed by the audience. Enhancing the commercially available 3D data to high-definition resolution was a crucial step. The team’s experts worked diligently to refine the details of the Flying Ferrari, ensuring a visually impressive outcome. Milling the parts of the car proved challenging due to its intricate shape. We utilized an advanced CNC milling robot, enabling precise manufacturing. Choosing an appropriate milling material was crucial for the demanding tour schedule. We finally selected a material that allowed for easy amendments, adjustments and repairs as needed during the extensive tour. The result was a flying car weighing just 6.5 kg without helium.
Operating the Flying Ferrari in different indoor arena conditions throughout North America and Europe presented its own set of challenges. Our pilots showcased adaptability and resourcefulness, making necessary adjustments to ensure optimal performance in various venues. Ensuring audience safety was a paramount concern. We achieved this by an ultra-light execution of the Flying Ferrari and employing a soft milling material, eliminating the risk of harm in unforeseen circumstances. Our skilled pilots flawlessly executed the choreography, seamlessly integrating the Flying Ferrari into Drake’s stage show. We provided services, from unpacking to set-up, operation, and preparing the Flying Ferrari for transportation to the next tour stop. This full-service approach ensured a smooth touring experience.
The project achieved resounding success for Drake, resulting in significant media attention. The Flying Ferrari became a focal point, captivating audiences and generating widespread excitement.
